Dr. Gail Thomas

In November, 2007, Dr. Gail Thomas joined Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. Her charge was to bring new focus and collaboration between all the breast health services currently offered by St. Francis. "They had all the components and excellent physicians and support personnel, but it’s really bringing those people together," she said.

The St. Francis Breast Care Center will build on the extraordinary expertise of Dr. Thomas and the rest of her team to create a center that not only treats breast cancer, but provides support, diagnosis and treatment for all breast health issues. They will even extend serves into evaluation of women from families with a high risk of breast health issues. They will focus on "the entire patient and the entire breast health of the patient."

As the St. Francis Breast Health Center grows, the St. Francis Foundation will help to find funding sources and support for its new programs and remarkable care, creating a center that will be an example for breast health and treatment across the country. As Dr. Thomas says, "St. Francis is very supportive in making sure we have all the resources we need to provide the best care that we can."
