Mission

The St. Francis Foundation is a charitable foundation that supports the healing mission of The Bon Secours St. Francis Health System. We seek out kindred spirits to join in generosity, embrace possibilities, and bring comfort, joy and hope to the community. 

One of the ways the Foundation helps St. Francis to serve our community are through the support of the programs of the department of Community Ministries. Many of the programs have provided healing, education, care and compassion to our community.  There are many employees, volunteers, physicians and community partners that have helped to work toward a healthier community for our citizens.

St. Francis has partnered with Greenville Tech Dental Program, New Horizon Family Health Services and the United Way to develop a fixed dental practice as well as a mobile dental unit (formally the St. Francis Health Express) to provide better access to dental care for low-income and uninsured families.

Each year, St. Francis purchases both English and Spanish language health information books from the American Institute for Preventative Medicine. These books are distributed to families within Greenville County, and provide current information on more than 200 family health topics.

A program of the Greenville County School District, Healthy Connections, provides resources to remove barriers to health care for medically underserved school-age children. St. Francis supports this program through the funding of one full-time case manager annually.

Annually, St. Francis supports the national efforts of Cover the Uninsured Week by providing resources for and advocating on behalf of families and individuals who are without insurance or are under-insured.

St. Francis partners with local organizations and facilitates discussion about the future of health care through Community Dialogues. By gathering people from different backgrounds and experiences, this grassroots discussion helps generate new ideas on improving health care in the United States. Click here for more information.

The Greenville Health Care System meets the full continuum of medical needs for individuals of all ages.  Through active health prevention and intervention strategies Greenville residents' chances of living longer without chronic disease, injury or accidental or premature death are increased.  Greenville is a medical destination for people throughout the Southeast who seek advanced treatments.
